About Monica Perez
My objective is to have the opportunity to help the city where I grew up and still live with my family. I have a loving husband, supportive family, a son and daughter who are the center of my universe. I want to be part of leading a community that can make a change in the world of those who live, play, work and learn in the City of Hialeah.
I have committed to finding ways for our community to come together and work for our residents. My 18 years of teaching experience has also allowed me to work with many diverse families in our community. I know my understanding of the community has helped me in my role as City Council Member.
These experiences have given me a unique perspective into the challenges and interests shared by these important sectors of our community and economy. I simply want Hialeah to be a great place to work, own a business, and feel safe to live while raising a family. Serving as a city councilmember is a way to thank the community in which I grew-up.

Areas of Concerns
As a parent, teacher and homeowner - I want to establish priorities on issues that matter.
After school activities
I am proud to have been part of opening more of our parks and expanding hours on the weekends as well. We have geared programs to the future by enhancing our parks programs and outdoor spaces. While hosting parks with more athletics programs.
a voice for the residents
My priority has been the residents they are the driving force behind every decision, every action and every initiative. I have tried to remain accessible and approachable. I have focus on our cities need for growth in a positive direction while maintaining our historic character and not raising taxes.
neighborhood SAFETY
We have focused on funding our police because keeping community members safe is critical. We have ensured public safety is a focus in our community planning and have increased employment. I have advocated for long-term solutions that focus with more police officers and fire station in our Annex neighborhood.
Community planning
We have worked to updated Infrastructure decisions that can affect our vulnerable residents. While creating spaces and transportation that help with the quality of life such as bringing FreeBee to our city. This was a project I advocated for and have expanded through my time in office.
sPECIAL NEED COMMUNITY OF CHILDREN AND ADULTS
A priority for my vision is focused on programs driven to help our special needs community of children and adults. We have forged a shared inclusive path forward in our community. Our Police and Fire Departments have created programs to help families. Our city also has the largest employment through Best Buddies that trains and develops future employment opportunities in our small businesses.
Transparency
While I have been in office we have advocated on updating our level of technology as it pertains to our government meetings. We have a transparent processes where residents can view, listen and comment from their home.
